Fun Singalongs

Everyone affected by Dementia is welcome.
If you love singing, then come along and join us with a friend, family member or carer.

Singalong

We will hold these fun singalongs at The British Legion Hall, Hungerford. There is no singing in August. As this term is very short, we have added some extra days.

Our singing sessions are lead by a professional and accompanied by a pianist

We hope to have lots of fun! We are all Volunteers and our aim is to help people live well with dementia.

How it started

A group of friends who have all had first hand experience of the challenges that face people who have been diagnosed with dementia.

It was the BBC documentary, Our Dementia Choir, that inspired us to try to create an environment
where people could come to enjoy music, revive memories and rebuild confidence.

Dementia can be very lonely and scary and often where words fail singing succeeds. Members of the family
are often the sole carer and they too need support and we hope they will come along to share stories
and socialise.

My mother lived with dementia for many years and the instant change in her demeanour was astounding
when she had the opportunity to listen to music, sing or dance! When she was distant and unable
to recognise a face or surroundings, music from her favourite songs instantly took her to a familiar place.
It was so moving.

This is fantastic news. Many thanks and congratulations to all our amazing Volunteers who work so hard to make HMS the success it is. We now have 30 people who come to benefit from our Singalongs.
